We wrap up our Sharks by Number series with the seldom used 50-99 range. There are a few big names mixed in with the short term call-ups who didn't stick around long enough to get a normal number.
#51 - Brian Campbell
The Sharks picked up Campbell as a rental for the playoffs in the spring of 2008. Campbell recorded 1 goal and 6 assists in 13 playoff games that year. It was not enough.
#52 - Craig Rivet
The rest: Matt Irwin
Current Sharks blueliner Matt Irwin appears to be sticking with #52, and should pass fellow d-man Rivet for the #52 crown by the end of the season.
#53 - Ryan Vesce
The rest: Jesse Fibiger, Joe Pavelski
Ryan Vesce's two short call ups from 2008-2010 were enough to give him the #53 title.
#54 - Nick Petrecki
#55 - Ben Eager
The rest: Grant Stevenson, Mike Moore
Another rental, Eager was brought to the Sharks to toughen them up for the 2011 playoffs. Eager did record 41 PIM in 10 playoff games that year. It did not help them win.
#57 - Tommy Wingels
Current Shark Tommy Wingels is the only player in Sharks history to wear #57, and will likely hold the title for a very long time to come.
#59 - Brad Staubitz
#60 - Jason Demers
Jason Demers has switched his number to #5, but he started out with #60 on his back (and arms). He wore the number for over 200 games, and is the only Shark to wear #60.
#61 - Justin Braun
#62 - Andrei Nazarov
Andrei Nazarov, a bruiser for the Sharks in the mid to late '90s, actually changed his number from 23 to 62, and was the only Shark with a number in the 60's until recently.
#64 - Jamie McGinn
Jamie McGinn has played the most games of with a number higher than #45 on his sweater, with 226 games played in teal.
#65 - Derek Joslin
#68 - Frazer McLaren
#69 - Andrew Desjardins
Sixty nine!! To the chagrin of immature Sharks fans everywhere, Desjardins has changed his number to #10. However, the 101 games he played with #69 on his back gave everyone more than enough time to go out and buy that jersey.
#72 - Brandon Mashinter
#78 - Benn Ferriero
#80 - Matt Tennyson
#88 - Brent Burns
Resident Sharks sasquatch Brent Burns previously wore #8 for Minnesota, but switched to #88 for the Sharks due to #8 being already taken. I get way too much pleasure over the fact that 88 resembles BB, Burns' initials.
#91 - Jan Caloun
I could not find photographic proof of Caloun wearing #91, but sources indicate that he wore the number for the 2 games he played with the Sharks in the 1997-98 season.
#94 - Alexander Korolyuk
The highest number ever worn by a Shark belongs to Alexander Korolyuk, with #94. You may remember that Korolyuk also holds the title of most games played as #15 for the Sharks. Korolyuk switched to #94 when he returned to the Sharks from Russia for the 2003-04 season.
And that's it! I hope you enjoyed reading this. Go Sharks!
